Hi All,
I've recently replaced my old Vista x86 Media Center with Win7 x64.
I haven't installed (and don't plan to install) any 3rd party codecs or codec packs; so I'm running with just the native decoders that ship with Windows.
All of my media plays perfectly, except for some old DVRMS recordings that were converted to H.264+AAC using MCEBuddy v1.0.8 (or v1.0.9).
Other more recent DVRMS recordings that were converted to Xvid+MPEG-1 Layer 3 using MCEBuddy v1.1 do play back fine.
I was just wondering if anyone could explain why the H.264 files won't playback; as I was under the impression that Win7 supported H.264 out of the box?
I did read somewhere that the native Win7 H.264 decoder only works with the 'Baseline Profile', although I'm not sure if that's true or not. Does anyone know what profile would have been used for H.264 encodings in MCEBuddy v1.0.x?
And what would be the simplest way to transcode or somehow modify these old recordings (without installing any other codecs) so that they can be played back with the native H.264 decoder?
(PS: The original DVRMS recordings were from Australian TV broadcasts...ie. DVB-T, if that makes any difference).
Thanks in advance.
