Converting TS videos with mutiple audio streams

Hi there,

I'm using MCEBuddy 1.0.8 and the "H.264 Recommended" profile.

I'm using MediaPortal as a recorder tool. I've a bunch of TS recordings on my HDD that contain two language streams (German/English). MCEBuddy only converts the German audio stream. Is it possible to convert both audio streams?

I have some video files as transport stream ( .ts ) including two languages. English and German.

I encode these files as h264 Recommended with MCE 1.0.8

The output file should only be German.

There are no parameters, where I can adjust

Sometimes the file is German, sometimes English

What can I do?

Forcing MCEB to process .ts files?

I may have missed something silly, but if I have a bunch of .ts files in a folder, it does not process them until I rename them to .dvr-ms? The registry setting for filemask is dvr-ms, and resets itself (if changed to .ts) on service restart... What am I missing? thanks, Zeb

How to Join the MCEBuddy Beta Program

To join the MCEBuddy program simply create a forum account and ask to join by posting a request in this forum with the following information:

Your MCE version (MCE 2005 XP / Vista / Vista 64/ TV Pack 2008)
Your DVR software(Windows Media Center, Mediaportal, Sage, etc.)
Your system CPU
Are you converting to a server or NAS, will MCEBuddy be on your media PC or on a server
What conversions you are most interested in (if you know yet, eg. types of shows, format DivX/WMV/H.264)
What portable devices you want to convert to (if you have any eg. iPod, Zen Vision, etc.)

Periodically I'll check the forum and allow people in.

Understand that these are BETA releases and will have BUGS, so you might lose your recordings if you don't keep a copy of them. If the beta is in the early stages (eg. less than say BETA20) it will be very hands on and manual (eg. command line testing). It will not be usable as a replacement for a released version of MCEBuddy.

WTV is now part of the beta.

looking for an MCEBUDDY profile that works with wimdows movie maker 2.6 XP

hi,I've tried few of the profiles available with mcebuddy but none of them can work perfectly with windows movie maker 2.6 XP. The WMV profiles won't let me save the movie using the movie maker and the avi profiles take forever to save on WMM. Any thoughts anyone? I have many video files to convert with mcebuddy, it's just what I need but the profiles are giving me a hard time. Please don't advise me to use different editing software because WMM is just what I need and I've been using it for years with different languages and the fact mcebuddy can convert the files automatically using 2 profiles is great for me. I just need to figure it out with the profiles and then it would be perfect.Thank you so much for your helpRoy

H.264 Incompatible with Windows 7

I have been using MCEBuddy for the past 3 years and I have build up about 300GB of H.264 Videos. I recently installed Windows 7 and found that I can't get the Audio to work. The Video is fine, just no Audio. I have tried various codec packs but no luck. After a little Googling and few forums it turn out that the H.264 format in MCEBuddy is not all it should be. I am very disappointed especially given the fact that H.264 is the recommended codec in MCEBuddy.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I might do? Is there a particular codec I could use or have I got to re-transcode them all? If re-transcoding is the only option can I use MCEBuddy to do it automatically?

I do hope someone has a good suggestion

My 10Gb ATSC Saturday Night Live recording (90minutes) is shutting down and going to idle state after 10% of transcoding.(I looked in the log folder.)

Any ideas??

Hi there, new user, Could someone plz tell me if there is a way to convert 1 hour long recordings to a set output size, using the Divx profile - something around 350mb ?
love the program and am slowly getting my head around it

Submitting a Bug

There are a number of things you should supply when submitting a MCEBuddy bug to allow us to determine what the issue may be.

Below is a table of the information that assists us in debugging your problem. Please detail as many of them as you are able (they don’t always apply). The log (MCEBuddy 2.0+) and sample video snippet file are of the most help.

Title	A short description of the bug, preferably different to others that have been submitted. “MCEBuddy stops” is an example of a poor title. “MCEBuddy fails to convert large recording” would be better.
Description	A long description of the bug. Provide as much context as to what you were trying to get MCEBuddy to do and what you were providing it as you can
Recording/DVR Software	If the files are recorded using DVR software, please indicate which. Examples are Windows Media Center, MediaPortal, Sage, etc.
Operating system	Which operating system MCEBuddy is installed on.
Commercial skipping	Is commercial skipping turned on? If so which application is used? Is the commercial removal operating correctly or at all?
Conversion source	Where the source file is located? Is it on a NAS over the network, is it on a server on the network?
Conversion destination	Where the destination file is located? Is it on the same drive as the source, is it on a NAS over the network, is it on a server on the network?
Recording file type	Was it DVR-MS, TS, MPEG, WTV, etc?
Recording channel	The channel sometimes matters as some channels copy protect their transmissions and Media Center honours this. Try to include the country as there is a world beyond the borders of the USA.
Recording length	How long was the recording (in time)?
Recording size	How large was the recording (in MB)?
Time of conversion	When was the conversion occurring? Were you present when it happened or was it overnight? This helps to determine power management issues such as suspending in the middle of a conversion
Time to convert	How long did it take to convert the file?
Conversion type	What conversion type or profile are you attempting to use? Have you modified it in any way?
Playback device	What device are you attempting playback under? Windows Media Center, iPod, PSP, etc.
Converted file size	If a file conversion was performed, what was the size of the converted file
Codec pack	What codec pack are you using for playback (if applicable) eg. FFDShow, K-Lite, etc.
Converted file playable	Is the converted file playable?
Converted file recognised	Is the converted file recognisable by the appropriate player? (Windows Media Player, Quicktime, VLC, etc.)
URL to snippet	Nothing is as effective for debugging as the actual source video. If you can produce a small snippet of the video of 100MB or less that still reproduces the bug, this will help considerably. A complete recording (usually measured in GB) is simply too large. Tools to use are VideoRedo or similar. Post the video using an FTP site you have write access to or use a file sharing service such as RapidShare (www.rapidshare.com)
Event log entries	Any Windows event log entries that are for MCEBuddy around the time of the bug should also be provided.
Log file	If you have MCEBuddy 2.0 or later in debug mode, attach the log file either to the post itself (beta forum) or using the same method as the URL to snippet. You do this from the OPTIONS tab when you are composing a post.

Sorry if it has been mentioned before but I didn't see a post in here asking about it.

But, I recorded Rage both Friday night and Saturday night, they are between 21 and 24gb in size, my i7 920 is happy to chomp through em, but takes the best part of a day, if there a way to have mcebuddy to allow us to cut and crop?

Aspect Ratio not being kept

I currently have MCEBuddy converting my videos using the DivX Compatability profile. My input video as a ratio of 720x480 but after it converts it, the video as a ratio of 720x540. Why is this happening? I also tried selecting the DivX Compatability (no resize) profile but it did the same thing. Then I tried using the DivX DVD profile so that it would maintain the 720x480 ratio and it did output it as such but it did it by cutting off a portion of the top and bottom of the video. Any one have any idea how I can fix this?

I just started using MCEBuddy today it is Great! and easy to use. I searched but could not find a post matching my problem.

Most of my TV records are 720x480 6 MB/s TV shows in 16x9 images letterboxed on a 4:3 canvas. I would like a profile that will crop the black bars at the top and bottom of the screen then resize the result to DivX or H.264 that will display in 16:9 aspect ratio on my widescreen TV. 720x384 DivX files I have done with TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress fill the screen properly but take a lot of time and are not automated like MCEBuddy.

I would prefer a solution that could be authored to a DVD and play at 16x9 with a hardware based DVD player.

Is this a new profle for mencoder or do I need to wait for a new version of MCEBuddy?

I am working with MCE XP 2005 rollup 3, on an HP Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.8GHz with HT, 1.5GB ram, Primary HD has 100GB freespace, more than 2TB avaiable on a varaity of external hard disks. Video capture is an EMuzed Maui II, audio is MPeg-1 Layer 2

The input/output folders exists, it is not a share, yes it is vista but there are no NTFS restrictions.

MCE is working fine for recording and playback.

I've tried other folders, it just doesn't work.

Thoughts, because this is been a pain and I'm about to ditch it.

Works great except for one recording.

MCEBuddy has worked great except for one recording that occurred on a windy day. The dvr-ms file plays back fine in the Media Center (if a bit choppy), but my conversion tries with MCEBuddy have serious audio/video sync problems. I have tried converting to DivX (compatibility), H.264 (recommended), and WMV (default), all with Commercial Skipping. Using ShadowAnalyzer didn't seem to improve things at all.

Is there anything else I can try? Thank you all for any suggestions.

When will the 64bit 2.0 Beta be released?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has come up with their own custom version of the WMV or DIVX profile?

Essentially, i am having trouble playing the WMV files that the default profile produce using MediaPortal 1.0. So am interested in checking out alternative WMV profiles that might help with playback.

Also have tried the Divx-Faster profile that Phredeaux posted on the forum - works OK but quality is a bit lacking. It uses the lavc encoder instead of xvid.

I guess i am using the Divx-Faster profile due to my slow PC (only P4 2.9Ghz). I would really like to get encoding speeds closer to the wmv encoder.

The default Divx profile which uses xvid encoder produce great quality video BUT is much slower (half as fast as the wmv profile).

So appreciate if you can share your custom profiles.. especially if they have been tweaked for speed for divx or wmv encoding.

Nokia N800/N810 conversion

I love using this program to convert Media Centre recordings to watch on my N800. However, I am wondering if the gamma correction on the conversion process can be increased. For shows that are (darker/nighttime scenes) I can't get them bright enough even with maximum brightness on the N800.

Howdy,

There are quite a few channels in the UK that are widescreen under normal operations though switch ratio for older shows, I'm guessing this is the same elsewhere too. As a lot of my shows are standard aspect ratio I was wondering if it is possible to transcode these to a 4:3 output rather that 16:9 which is detected from the adverts before the show starts.

I'm guessing that the transoder uses the ratio at the start of the video file as the output ratio but as I'm new to MCEBuddy and my searching is not coming back with anything I thought I'd ask.

All conversions resulting in garbelled video

I have tried multiple formats but even with the default WMV format the conversion is completed but the resulting file is garbage audio and video. This happens with shows from premium cable channels or basic ones so I do not think this is copy protection.

I have a Dell XPS 420 with two ATI digital tuners each with a cable card. I am runing Vista home premium with service pack 1. My cable is Verizon FIOS and the source recordings are fine.

Any suggestions? I feel like I must be missing something easy.

Please help,

i am using show analyzer and at end of scan how do i save it as file as it does scan and shows the bar with red or green bars but then what is the next step, but i haven't purchased it only trialing it for the moment.

with MCE BUDDY noticed that it takes a day and half to do one 2 hour tv movie to remvoe commercials is this normal or are my settings wrong.

using windows media centre.

At present MCE is not responding to removing commercials and is only converting ,as i have ticked the check box for commercial skipping what can i do ?
